Effective coaching happens when there is a foundation of trust. I often find that people who are struggling with weight and body image issues also have a hard time trusting others. Emotional traumas can leave you wary of placing your trust in someone. However, you must understand that only through honest, open, trusting communication can we find what is at the heart of your issue and begin to resolve it.

Life Coaching

To build this trust, we will need to have regular coaching sessions. How many and how often will depend on you. I will always be respectful of your time and will strive to provide you with the most value in the time allotted. It is important that you realize that the more effort you put in to your success, both during and between our sessions, the more you will benefit.  This shared responibility in your coaching outcomes is important. Through responsible coaching, we can work together while building a relationship that will help facilitate change. I understand firsthand that dealing with emotional issues is difficult; if it were easy to make lasting life changes, there would be no need for coaches. Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT)

One of the tools I utilize is Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) or “Tapping” which is a process that can help you release the impact and power of negative emotions so you can overcome emotional traumas. The premise of EFT is that no matter what part of your life needs improvement, there are unresolved issues holding you back. Tapping helps you gain freedom from emotional patterns that are preventing you from obtaining your goals by changing how your mind and body process negative emotions.

Psychology of Eating

Another very effective tool is the Psychology of Eating. The Psychology of Eating focuses more on the person and less on the food. It’s a positive, empowering and transformational approach that is designed for anyone who eats. Each of us has a unique and ever-changing relationship with food. Dynamic Eating Psychology affirms the importance of our relationship with food while dealing with our challenges with eating, weight and health. These challenges do not indicate that we are broken but provide us with an opportunity to grow and learn to work with our bodies instead of against them. The answer you have been looking for all these years does not include counting points or tracking calories, it’s about listening to the messages hidden within our own challenges. The magic is not hidden in a pill… it happens when we slow down and listen to the inner wisdom within our own bodies.

I combine these different tools to help you find lasting change. For far too long, you have been inundated by negative messages about food, weight, and diet. You may have been told that you lack willpower or just need more control. The majority of nutrition experts promote conflicting advice, and the resulting confusion about what to eat and how to have a happy relationship with food can make change difficult. Jumping from one fad diet to another or looking for the perfect “super food” that will just melt all your troubles away is unrealistic and will not give you lasting results. Within five years, 98% of people who lose weight will gain it back. Research has shown weight loss is the by-product of making lasting changes that increase a healthier, happier lifestyle. In my own life, I did not lose weight and become happy and healthy.  I became happy and a healthier weight resulted.

In my professional practice, I combine many of the best strategies from nutritional science and eating psychology. By eliminating all the “shoulds and shouldn’ts” we can focus on what is right for your body and personal life style.
