In no particular order…
It’s not what we eat – it’s who we are as eaters.
When we fear food, diet and our body, the body perceives this as stress. And when the body perceives stress, physiologic changes occur which activate the fight or flight response and will lead to digestive shutdown. So actually we are doing more harm than good. If you are eating a healthy diet and making all good choices, but you still hate your body and/or your food plan is making you crazy, then what you eat will not be metabolized at the fullest capacity. When you begin to understand and appreciate your body and eat foods for pleasure, your body will work at its best serving you completely.
How we eat is how we live – or – how we live is how we eat!
Eating fast and furious, and/or mindlessly is often replicated as a fast and furious lifestyle. A lot of times, we are just trying to get through the day without getting hurt, angry or upset. Whoever gets to the finish line first with the most prizes wins, can lead to a rushed, unfulfilled, empty life. And we eat the same way. Food and life mirror each other. If we eat fast without paying attention to what we are consuming, we miss the nourishment – same with life.
I am NOT alone!
Through the many stories I’ve heard from my new tribe of eating psychology coaches and the many case studies my teacher shared – there are a lot of people out there who share my struggles with weight, chronic dieting, binge eating, body image and lack of purpose. There’s an actual need for compassion and forgiveness and it’s up to me to spread the word and with all the information I’ve learned to help people like me who want to transform their relationship with food and body AND LIFE from the inside out.
I grew up thinking I was the only one suffering from all these weight issues – no one ever understanding me or my struggles. As much I would hate for others to go through what I’ve been though, it’s comforting to know there are many other successful people who share my pain. It’s about time we receive the compassion and understanding and know that there are people in the world who want to help others stop the pain of chronic dieting and poor body image. AND, thank God I’m certified to do exactly that.
Live it – don’t die-it
God did not place me here to chronically diet, obsess about food and my weight, hate my body and not live authentically. My body is an image of His – who am I to mistreat it and hate it. We all have a greater purpose on this Earth and it’s not to count points, calories, sweat till our eyes turn blue.
We are here at this moment to share our gifts and talents with the world. We have a purpose AND a responsibility to hear the voice of the Universe when it talks to us and shows us where we need to go. When we are constantly bombarded with diet chatter and negative self-talk, we can’t hear the messages, and we can miss the good stuff.
Here’s a quote that hit me from a recent article I read by Mary O’Malley, author of The Gifts of Compulsions…It (Life) is giving us the clues that will take us out of our reactive mind and back into the joy of being truly connected to life. As we learn how to listen, really listen, to whatever we are being given, we begin to see the bigger picture. And then our challenges, rather than being proof that we have done something wrong, become doorways into a deep and trust-filled relationship with ourselves and with our lives. You are right on, Mary, thank you!

We go through many cycles in our life and one very important transition is when we move from princess/prince to queen/king. AND if we don’t acknowledge this transition, we miss out on the good stuff. The princess needs outside validation and
approval and the queen needs to be honored for her hard work and celebrate life. So when we are in our queendom, but expecting and NEEDING to have approval from others, we are in chaos. Each has its important role, but when we mix them up that’s where the trouble is and believe me, I was in that chaos for many years.
Before my training, I was living the princess archetype in a queen’s body. Allowing the approval of others to run my life and not appreciating the gifts of love and nourishment that a queen deserves. Now as a queen, I get to enjoy who I am now, not judged by society and what it determines about what I need to look like, feel like and I can listen to Divine messages and follow my heart and my body’s wisdom.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is no easy task – it’s a process and as a queen I am open to this process with all the bumps and triumphs along the way.
I think that’s enough for now, I’ll share the other five next time. Until then, remember it’s about time we return to the heart.
