Beginning today, January 1, 2014, I embark on a new journey – absolutely different, uncharted territory for me – a road with exciting, maybe some scary, sights to see, obstacles to maneuver through, memories to embrace.   This year – this journey — is like no other I’ve ever experienced; and if I did, I certainly don’t remember.  It’s the year I embark on the adventure of a no-diet diet!

Since, I’m 13, I’ve been in more Weight Watchers meetings than at blessed services at my Church.  I’ve worshipped more WW leaders’ words as scripture than the Holy Bible’s.  I’ve counted more points than stars and wanna know something?  I’m done venerating the wisdom of others more than my own.

I promise to you today to begin this year absent of the need to have the need to lose weight.  And, I commit to you at this moment to love my body as it is right now – with its flabby arms and thick thighs and stomach that once wished it was as flat as Bo Derek’s. I commit to make healthy nutritional food choices, embrace gentle movement I enjoy in place of grueling exercise I hate.

God placed me on this Earth to share my gifts — make people laugh, keep 30+ bosses over myfreeimage-4766634-web career organized and on time for meetings, raise two well-grounded soon-to-be adults, building an amazing coaching practice and to make sure my wonderful husband runs hot water in his used oatmeal bowl each morning – not spend my lifetime trying to lose the same five pounds.  My life’s purpose is not to lose and gain weight – it’s to accept and appreciate all the phenomenal, God-given, generous, loving people, wondrous nature and the abundance of this Earth.

May God bless you in this new year, bring only good things to you and your loved ones and mostly allow you the wakefulness that your incredible life deserves.

It’s about time we return to the heart,

Nancy
