As you’ve heard/read me say very often and it’s very true — food is not the problem in our weight loss struggles.  But there is something in our life that causes them to overeat and it’s not the food…per se.

Very often, I hear people, myself included, say “Oh, I can’t have that [fill in the blank], it’s bad for me.”

So, here’s where I’d like to set the record straight…

Food is not good or bad – it may taste good and it may taste bad – but it has no value.thumbs up_thumbs down

It has nutritional value, but no moral value.

When we label food bad and we eat it — we label ourselves bad.

Our rebellious child is activated and then we drop into self-punishment.

And the ways we punish ourselves…

  • We starve ourselves
  • We overeat, we binge
  • We talk to ourselves negatively – I’m bad, I’m a failure, I never do anything right.
  • We self-abuse
  • We drop into shame
  • We go into the dark and hide from our true light.
  • We over-discipline by over-exercising.

Acts of punishment take away our personal power and there’s too much noise to hear our body’s wisdom calling us.

Yes, there are better choices out there – We can eat healthily and unhealthily.

Food has no emotional, spiritual, monetary value.

Food can only be used to feed, nourish and enhance the temple of our body.

So please beginning today, see food as neutral.

Food is not power…food is food.
