I really wanted to share this with you for Valentine’s Day, but my brand new computer got a virus so it needed some TLC with the Geek Squad so I was unable to share this.
Happy belated Valentine’s Day…
The heart – the symbol of love…the symbol of Valentine’s Day.
Since I started my practice five years ago this month, it’s been my goal to get us out of our heads and back into our hearts.
In order for us to return to the heart, we need to take small steps to get there and one of those teeny, tiny steps is accepting who we are and what we look like.
We may not have the body we want to have right now, but it’s the one we have so we might as well stop fighting it.
I want to share a few facts with you today that you need to know about how we treat the greatest gift of our body.
First, and most important to me – You cannot hate your body into becoming thin and dieting your ass off. This tactic will never work because, honey, if it did, we’d all be thin.
Negative body image is when we think we are not enough, that we are not loved, we don’t deserve happiness or good things. Everyone, but me, has the perfect body.
When we look in the mirror and we berate our reflection – you’re so fat, ugly, short, flabby, etc. Really! When we’re sitting across the table from your best friend, are you thinking those same thoughts about them?
Body shame and disgust is a serious epidemic and it’s the message we constantly send to our young men and women. We need to be the force that changes this message of body hate and send love and support to ourselves and our youth.
Healing our relationship with our body is going to be difficult. We’ve mistreated it for so long that it may take some time and hard work to repair it. Sending love and acceptance is the most peaceful first step on this journey.
Secondly, we need to learn how to respect this beautiful body.
By respecting our body, I mean feed it high quality, nourishing foods.
Respect it by moving it…
Respect it by filling it with good meaningful experiences…
Respect it by learning something new or picking up something you once enjoyed….
Join in me taking the pledge….I’m in…you have my word.
It starts today!
